What is a Life Threshold?
A life threshold is the moment the old story stops working but the new one hasn’t been written yet.
Divorce, death, waking up spiritually, or a drastic change of worldview; the job ending, the diagnosis, the conversation where everything cracked open.

This is different than a life transition, which has a Point A that you chose, and then a new Point B that you chose instead, such as a new job. You chose it, and while there’s a transition, you had time to prepare and you had choice.
A threshold rips out Point A from under you, with no Point B in sight. Usually it’s initiated outside of the realm of choice, and leaves you with tons of disorientation internally.

In a threshold moment in life, you don’t know who you are for a while. Usually some months. That not-knowing is the threshold, not a failure to have found the answer.
